Explosion at Alania Shopping Center in Vladikavkaz Linked to Shot-Down UAV

On December 25th, a large explosion occurred at the Alania shopping center in Vladikavkaz, the capital of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania in southern Russia. According to reports, local air defense forces shot down a UAV in Vladikavkaz earlier that day, which may have been the cause of the explosion. A 57-year-old woman was killed, and the explosion caused a fire, engulfing an area of about 800 square meters. The fire was brought under control after an hour. Some sources suggest that the explosion may have been caused by a gas leak. Vladikavkaz is located about 850 km from Ukrainian-controlled areas, and Ukraine has been regularly carrying out long-range UAV attacks targeting Russian territory.
