On January 3, over 100 investigators and police officers from South Korea’s Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) arrived at President Yoon Suk-yeol’s residence to execute an arrest warrant. However, they were obstructed by a "human wall" formed by agents from the Presidential Security Service (PSS) and the 55th Security Brigade under the Capital Defense Command.

The PSS locked the residence gates, forcing the investigation team to wait outside. After gaining access, they faced further resistance from the 55th Brigade soldiers and the PSS’s inner security force. Despite presenting the arrest and search warrants, the investigators were still unable to reach President Yoon.

After nearly six hours of deadlock, the CIO decided to suspend the execution of the warrant, citing safety concerns and the impracticality of the situation. The incident sparked controversy over the legal accountability of the security forces and the potential obstruction of justice.
