On January 12, former President Donald Trump criticized California officials on the social media platform Truth Social for their handling of wildfires. Trump called it “one of the worst disasters in American history” and blamed Governor Gavin Newsom and President Joe Biden. He accused Governor Newsom of failing to approve measures to restore water resources and claimed that a lack of water in fire hydrants and FEMA funding issues were consequences of the Biden administration.
The wildfires have caused significant damage, leaving at least 24 people dead and forcing over 105,000 to evacuate. Authorities are investigating the cause, while natural factors such as strong winds, low humidity, and dense vegetation are believed to have worsened the situation
