Apple is preparing to release its latest addition to the iPhone SE lineup, featuring a series of significant enhancements. According to MacRumors, the device is expected to debut on February 19, 2025, with pre-orders starting a few days later.
One of the most notable changes is its design, which closely resembles the iPhone 14. The traditional 4.7-inch display and home button have been replaced by a larger 6.1-inch OLED screen with a notch. As reported by The Verge, this marks a shift toward Face ID, moving away from the Touch ID fingerprint sensor seen in previous models.
The iPhone SE 4 will also receive a performance boost, powered by Apple's A18 chip and 8GB of RAM, ensuring compatibility with Apple Intelligence features. MacRumors states that the device will incorporate a single 48-megapixel rear camera, an improvement over the previous generation.
In compliance with updated regulations, Apple is switching from its Lightning port to USB-C. The new model is also expected to feature Apple's first in-house 5G modem, though The Verge notes that it will not support mmWave 5G. Additionally, the mute switch will be replaced by a customizable Action button, a feature recently introduced in premium iPhone models.
Battery life is another area of improvement. MacRumors reports that users can expect up to 20 hours of video playback, thanks to a larger battery capacity. The device is also expected to support MagSafe and wireless charging.
As for pricing, The Sun suggests that the iPhone SE 4 will start at approximately $500 for the base 128GB storage variant. If Apple's usual release pattern holds, the device could be officially available in stores by the end of February.
With these upgrades, the iPhone SE 4 positions itself as a budget-friendly option for those looking for modern iPhone features without the premium price tag.
