Trump Removes New York Times and NBC News from the Pentagon: A Media Office Overhaul

On February 1, 2025, the Trump administration announced a significant overhaul regarding media offices at the Pentagon. Under the new directive, major media organizations such as The New York Times, NBC News, and NPR will be removed from their current offices at the Pentagon, while others like The New York Post, One America News Network, and Breitbart News Network will take their place.

The new initiative, named the "New Annual Media Rotation Program," aims to create fair opportunities for various media outlets to work directly at the Pentagon. Each year, a media organization from print, online, television, or radio will be rotated out, ensuring a more diverse and comprehensive coverage of U.S. military operations.

NBC News and other affected media organizations, such as The New York Times, expressed disappointment over the decision. They argued that being removed from the Pentagon would make news gathering and reporting more challenging. However, they assured that they would continue their work with the same strict standards and are prepared to face the challenges ahead.

Despite being removed from the Pentagon offices, these media organizations will remain full members of the Pentagon Press Corps and will continue to participate in press activities there.
